TRAC is governed by a bi-county board with offices above the Burnsville Gallery, and both it and the Spruce Pine Gallery offer gift shops. Monthly exhibitions are educational, entertaining, of the highest quality, from artists and craftspersons—both traditional and contemporary. Our gift shop participants,  juried once a year, represent the artistic talent from Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties. Receptions during select exhibits offer the public an opportunity to meet and talk with the artists. The gallery gift shops offer a gift registry and gift certificates for all occasions.

By buying locally, you are not only supporting the Arts Council but the community in which they live and work.

The Arts Resource Center, above the Spruce Pine Gallery, hosts entrepreneurial workshops for artists, process-driven craft classes, theatre and musical performances and serves as a rental space for other organizations.

TRAC sponsors the Toe River Studio Tour twice a year on the first weekend in June, the first weekend in December.
Paint Out, held one day in the spring, brings together 2-dimensional artists in a day of painting around Burnsville.

TRAC sponsors the Toe River Chamber Ensemble, a group of 20-25 volunteer musicians, who perform concerts throughout the year.

Music in the Mountains Folk Festival happens each fall with old time string bands, ballad singers, clogging, storytelling and bluegrass.

Foremost in TRAC’s focus is education and communication in the arts.
TRAC has education programs with K-5 residencies, the Traditional Arts Program for Students, and performances in the schools.

Another of TRAC’s goals is to work with other artist organizations. The three groups below, work together with TRAC to ensure their events succeed and to see the arts continue to thrive in our community. We support them by being their fiscal agent; we hope you will support them, too.
