The 32nd Annual Benefit Arts Auction held by the Toe River Arts Council on Sunday, August 9th was a resounding success according to TRAC Executive Director, Denise Cook. Approximately 150 excited bidders attended the three and a half hour event, which featured the work of over 100 artists. Over 150 pieces of donated original art filled the gallery; ceramics, paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, glass and other work found happy new owners during the auction. The event met its goal and will assist TRAC in its mission of supporting the arts in Yancey and Mitchell Counties. TRAC would like to express its gratitude to all the donating artists, staff and volunteers who ensured the event's success and in particular Auctioneer David Little; TRAC Auction Chairperson Corrine Shilling; for exhibition display and site management, Kathryn Andree; for packing, JJ Brown; for entire bookkeeping and auction operations, Jane Willig, for the Silent Auction, Ellen Dowling; for Auction graphic design, Kate Groff; and for food, Nancy Roth and Katherine Boone. Special thanks go out to Mary Vogel for photographing for the invitation and other PR; Judson Guerard for the donation of “River Rocks” glass sculpture for the image on the postcard; and Carolyn Munro Wilson for her generous donation for the Auction refreshments. TRAC also thanks the following media for their coverage of the Auction: WTOE, Mitchell News Journal, WKYK, and the Yancey Common Times Journal. |
