The 5th Annual Bakersville Creek Walk Arts Festival is accepting applications for exhibitors now through June 1st. This year’s event will be held on Sept 26th and 27th. This is a juried show, offering awards of $1000 Best of Show, $600 First Place, $400 Second Place, three $100 Honorable Mentions. Patron Awards are also available. Spaces are limited to 60, and a number of those have already been filled by returning artists. The City of Marion is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a member of Tree City USA. This is a great honor bestowed upon the city annually by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The North Carolina Arts Council is accepting showcase applications for ArtsMarket, one of the top performing arts showcase and booking conferences in the nation. Co-sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council and the North Carolina Presenters Consortium, the biennial ArtsMarket will bring more than 500 performing artists, agents and booking coordinators to High Point on Nov 9–11.
Intended for organizations that book all types of performers for regular season programming and special events like street festivals and fairs, the conference draws representatives from arts centers, colleges and universities, community concert series, schools, local arts councils, civic groups, and other organizations from across North Carolina and beyond.
Artists selected to showcase their work will have fifteen minutes of performance time. Artistic quality and professional touring capability are the primary factors determining the selection of showcase artists. Artists applying for showcase time should submit a narrative, work sample and nonrefundable registration fee of $20. Applications should be received in the Arts Council office no later than 5 pm on Wed, July 1. Raw Material and Basic Glaze Chemistry Workshop (with a focus on Cone 6 Reduction firing) at John Britt’s Pottery Studio. Call 828-467-5020 or email jbritt@main.nc.us for information on registering. The workshop starts Mon May 25, at 9 am and runs through Fri, May 29 at 5 pm. The workshop will focus on basic glaze chemistry and raw materials and firing specifically, but not limited to, cone 6 reduction. $450 (plus a $50 materials and firing fee) for the workshop, which includes a glaze notebook. Space is limited.

The workshop is Sat, July 18, from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Joy Tanner and John Britt will conduct a one day, hands on class on how to take digital photographs of your three dimensional ceramics/crafts using a simple, low tech approach for the beginner. $75.00 (includes digital photographs of 2-3 pieces and a delicious lunch). Projekt30 is currently seeking artwork which manifests the Hippocratic temperament “Sanguine”. Artwork which is light-hearted, spontaneous, whimsical, overindulgent, or even manic.
“Sanguine” will follow Projekt30’s publicly juried format: All artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so visitors may help select which artists will be included in the exhibition. Unlike other juried exhibitions, all participants receive exposure. Thirty artists will be selected and the show will be publicized via our extensive mailing list (consisting of galleries, collectors, artists, and art-lovers).
Deadline: June 2. Publicly Juried: June 4-16. Opens: June 18. Fee: $35 for up to 10 images, free for members.

You are invited to apply to be part of the Winston-Salem’s Gallery Loft’s Associated Arts Community Program and to exhibit your work at the Gallery Lofts’ “gallery” located at 181 East Sixth Street on the corner of Sixth and Chestnut Street. In addition to viewing by Gallery residents and their guests, the Gallery’s “gallery” will be open to the public for the Friday night Gallery Hop as well as on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 PM. Visitors to the exhibit will be required to sign in and out with the desk attendant and to provide photo identification.

The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County has begun a renovation and enlargement of the historic Sawtooth Building in downtown Winston-Salem , NC . Construction should be completed by fall 2010. Two sites in the Downtown Center for The Arts have been selected for placement of specifically commissioned works of art. Artists are invited to submit qualifications for consideration for the projects. Information about the selected sites and RFQ details are available on The Arts Council’s website,www.intothearts.org. Art in the Airport at Asheville Regional Airport is seeking artwork for display in their gallery. This art exhibit program has been featured in the national media, and the gallery is viewed by more than 300,000 passengers each year, with each exhibit lasting four months. Artwork has sold from nearly every exhibit, with the Asheville Regional Airport retaining only a 20% commission. If your artwork is selected for display in the gallery, the Asheville Regional Airport will feature one of your pieces in a brochure (along with an artist biography) and on a postcard.
