Columbia, MO Seek Artwork


The City of Columbia, Missouri, Office of Cultural Affairs invites artists legally residing in the U.S. to apply for a public art project for its planned parking garage at Fifth and Walnut Streets. An artist or artist team is sought to create new site-specific, original public art for the building and/or overall site. LoDi Project


The LoDi Project is asking artists to address the theme of “Architectural Spaces” for a November 2009 exhibition. How does architecture inspire your art? Work can be as technical as architectural construction drawings and plans, or looser interpretations such as photographs or paintings based on current and ancient architectural structures. Traditional and non-traditional styles and media are welcome. The exhibition will run Nov. 6–25. Deadline: Oct 6 (mailed entries to be postmarked) or Oct 11 (online entries)

Sarasota Seeks Park Sculpture


The City of Sarasota is issuing a national call to artists for a sculpture to be installed within Fredd “Glossie” Atkins Park. No theme for the artwork has been mandated; however, artists are requested to keep in mind the historical significance of the African-American community where Fredd “Glossie” Atkins Park is located. Three finalists will be selected by late October to give presentations by no later than Dec 15 to the Selection Committee. The three finalists will receive a stipend of $1,000 to cover expenses incurred for all submission requirements and travel. Overall project budget is $75,000.
