Seeking Local Artwork/Crafts-Boone


The new home of the High Country Council of Government in Boone is soliciting items that could be displayed in the new building-local artwork/crafts/photography of regional scenes, landscapes, historic sites and buildings, preferably of Yancey County. Salisbury Sculpture Show


The Salisbury Sculpture Show has issued a call for entries for its 2010 show. Exhibiting artists will receive a stipend, and three sculptures will be purchased for the City of Salisbury’s new Fiber to the Home Customer Service Center. Drawing Discourse


University of North Carolina at Asheville hosts Drawing Discourse, the first annual exhibition in contemporary drawing, open to all artists 18 years or older living in the U.S. and any two-dimensional media applicable to the practice of drawing, including but not limited to traditional drawing media. 2009 Small Works Exhibit and Sale


The 2009 Small Works Exhibit and Sale will take place Dec 3–5 during Christmas in Davidson. Artists are invited to bring up to three works to hang. All media is welcome and all works must be for sale. Size restrictions and other limitations apply. Cash and prizes will be awarded for viewer’s choice favorites, as voted on during Christmas in Davidson.
Deadline: Artwork accepted Nov 13, 6:30–7:30 pm and Nov 14, 10:30 am–noon.

The North Carolina Writers’ Network has a new program called “Writing the New South” offering its members a platform to record and share their experiences and interpretations of living in North Carolina as the state changes dramatically. Lit Drift


Lit Drift, a blog, resource and community dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling in the 21st century, is now accepting submissions to be featured as a daily prompt and/or daily featured story. In both cases, Lit Drift is looking for a complete short story or poem to publish on their Web site at litdrift.com. The author would be credited along with a Web link.

North Ridge Country Club Art Gala 2010


Call for Entries, North Ridge Country Club Art Gala 2010 Juried Art Competition and Sale, Sat, March 6, 2010 in Raleigh, NC. North Ridge Country Club wishes to promote art and area artists, while also developing increased art appreciation within its membership.  The club also intends to develop a permanent art collection in its clubhouse for members to enjoy.  In order to achieve this goal, North Ridge will sponsor a juried art competition, culminating in a special event to showcase the work of the selected artists. 30 pieces will be selected for the show. The creators of those pieces will be able to offer additional work for sale at the North Ridge Country Club Art Gala March 6. There will be a Purchase Award piece selected to hang in the club’s permanent collection.  The juror will choose first, second and third place award winners, who will receive recognition at the Gala and the opportunity to display their work for a designated number of weeks at North Ridge. All works must be original-oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels accepted. $10 entry/5 submission max. Entries accepted only from Nov 9 through Jan 8, 2010.
