Elements of Wellness Opportunity


Art work featuring natural scenes and seasons of the southeast, or  art  which relates to any type of healing work. To be displayed on  commission at Elements of Wellness, a healing practice in Asheville,  for 6-8 months. We are looking for 10-12 pieces of varied size. Leather/Wood Worker Wanted


I am looking for artists who work in leather or wood to create door hangers (i.e.small signs to hang from door handles) based on a logo or concept that we would create together. Art on Transit Bus Graphics Opportunity


The City of Asheville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department invites all area artists to submit artwork for the City’s first “Art on Transit” Bus Graphics Program. The juried competition, which will award a $750 honorarium to each of the three selected artists, offers area artists the opportunity to display their work on a unique and highly visible canvas: the exterior of a City of Asheville bus.
The application deadline is Wed, January 20, 2010 at 5pm. Two artist forums will be held at the bus garage on 360 W Haywood St on Wed, Dec 16, from 10 to noon and Thurs, Dec 17, from noon to 2 pm. Interested artists will have the chance to take photos and measurements of the buses, as well as pose questions to Diane Ruggiero, Superintendent of Cultural Arts. The designs of the selected artists will cover the sides of a single transit bus. Interested artists should submit original 2-D images, which can include (but are not limited to) photographs, computer generated designs, paintings, prints, and drawings. The City of Asheville welcomes submissions from artists of all backgrounds and levels of experience. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently live in Asheville, Arden, Black Mountain, Oteen, Skyland, Swannanoa, or Woodfin. Flat Rock Playhouse Craft Show


Flat Rock Playhouse Craft Show. May 7-9. Juried fine craft show held on Mothers’ Day weekend 2010. There will be a reception Fri evening and the show will be open to the public on Sat and Sun with a $3 admission fee. There is a $20 nonrefundable jury fee and a 30% commission donated to the Flat Rock Playhouse. Application deadline: Jan 30. HandMade in America Craft Design Lab


HandMade in America, Craft Design Lab, 125 S Lexington Ave, Ste 102, Asheville, Tues, Dec 1.
The idea is that craft artists come together to talk about ideas for DIY marketing using the web and other forms of technology. These sessions will be artist-run and all are welcome to use HandMade in America’s work space and new Macintosh computer. When we resume meetings in December, we will follow a schedule of topics to help direct conversation and idea exchange. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to your participation.  Remember, these sessions are free, so invite your friends and come prepared to share ideas. May 15, 10-5pm. Showcasing fine arts and crafts from local and regional artists, the Saluda Arts Festival draws thousands of spring tourists visiting Western North Carolina. This is a juried art event offering cash awards to a diverse range of 2D and 3D artwork.
