MUSEUM OF YANCEY COUNTY HISTORY – Open Wed - Sat from 10 - 4 p.m. through Oct. 31st; The Yancey History Association owns and operates the museum that was once the McElroy House, built around 1840. The House is on the National Register of Historic Places and was used by Brigadier General JW McElroy as the NC Home Guard Headquarters for WNC during the Civil War.
