The Toe River Arts Council (TRAC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 to promote the arts in Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
Our numerous community programs involve many of the over 33,000 citizens of Mitchell and Yancey Counties, as well as promote the area for our tourist trade. Support for local groups, artists, and students is provided by grants and stipends generated by our staff at Toe River Arts Council.

Each year TRAC brings a variety of performances to all the schools in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. Our goal is to try to have two performances per school each year. For the 2011-2012 school year, performances include:
Dr. Elliot Engel, Hobey Ford Puppets, Stuart Little, Healing Force, Parchman Hour [Download Teacher Workshop Guide]
Performances are funded in part by grants from Mitchell County United Way and United Way of Yancey County, NC Arts Council, a state agency, and funds from Mitchell and Yancey Schools.

for the
Annual Arts in Education Showcase
featuring artwork made by Mitchell County Students.
Saturday, March 3rd from 1 to 5pm, in the
Northlight Building on the campus of
Penland School of Crafts.
Each year hundreds of Mitchell County children are engaged in arts programs that enhance their academic experience and give voice to their creative spirits. This exhibit celebrates art made by students in public and private schools, and by homeschooled students.
TRAC’s gallery in Spruce Pine is undergoing major renovations this spring, which will result in expanded exhibition space, teaching classrooms, and more! The Annual Arts in Education Showcase must go on, so we’re moving the venue to Penland School of Crafts this spring, to coincide with Penland’s Annual Community Open House. The showcase will return to TRAC in 2013 when renovations are complete.
We hope you will join us for this special exhibition and will stay to participate in art activities in Penland’s studios. It should be a fun, art-filled day! For more information email kathryn@toeriverarts.org

Each week, we feature one artist's work here. It's open to all TRAC member artists in all the arts. So give us a call, or email kathryn@toeriverarts.org.
