The 25th Annual Music in the Mountains Folk Festival takes place indoors at the Burnsville Town Center on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
The Festival, "dedicated to the preservation of mountain music and cultur" includes music from all over our mountain region including bluegrass and traditional music, ballad singers, storytellers, and dancing. You won't want to miss one knee-slapping, hand-clapping minute of this evening's fun!
Performers this year include Sheila Kay Adams as emcee, grand storyteller and mountain ballad singer (a little dancing as well) accompanied by her son Andrew Barnhill, old-time musicians Rob Levin and Bruce Greene, the old-time string band favorites the Roan Mountain Moonshiners, Phil and Gaye Johnson (from the King Pup Radio Hour), singer and keyboardist Roberta Whitesides, and storyteller and ballad singer Bobby McMillon.
Food and refreshments will be available from Mike's Barbecue. Tickets are $12 adults, and $10 for students and seniors 65+. Save $2 and buy your tickets in advance at the Burnsville or Spruce Pine TRAC Galleries through Friday, October 1.
The Music in the Mountains Folk Festival is sponsored by the Toe River Arts Council in part by a Grassroots Art Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.
