“I have been a hobbyist woodworker for more than 20 years. I began with projects around the house and furniture (tables, bookcases, desks) for my family. Woodworking was primarily used as therapy from my job as a Sociology professor, and I enjoyed it immensely. After a while, I took it more seriously than my job.
I carve bowls, trays, cutting boards, spoons and other utensils, trying to blend flowing organic forms with traditional functional designs. I use both hand and power tools to carve, primarily with green wood. I try to respect the nature and character of each log or branch as I sculpt the bowl or spoon.” – Paul Eisenhauer
